After experiencing domestic violence and homelessness I had been left feeling hopeless and honestly believed, at 28 years old, that my life was over.

It is hard for me to put into words how much it has helped and changed my life being supported by RISE.

After experiencing domestic violence and homelessness I had been left feeling hopeless and honestly believed, at 28 years old, that my life was over. I was suffering severely with depression and could not see a way out of my situation.

Within two weeks of being referred to RISE I had been offered a studio flat in Brighton with support from RISE for the issues I had been facing. From the moment I spoke to my support worker… I felt an overwhelming kindness, understanding and genuine concern for my situation and experience.

The staff at RISE were so kind, understanding and supportive from the moment I met them. They had prepared the flat for my arrival and bought me bedding, kitchen appliances, furniture etc. I was overwhelmed by their thoughtfulness and kindness after so long without experiencing these things. I can honestly say that they re-established my faith in people. They were so supportive and gave me guidance and support, but also space when I needed to adjust to a new life and environment and heal from my experience.

It’s not the end of the road yet but I am being given all the tools possible to succeed and heal from my experience. I fully trust and am so grateful to RISE for enabling me to reclaim life.
