Drum Out Abuse March

November 25th marks the start of 16 days of activism against gender-based violence.

Let's gather in the afternoon for a rally with speakers followed by a march around the streets of Brighton to 'drum out' domestic abuse. Bring pots, pans and something to bang them with! Bring your bongos!

Drum Out Abuse March

Sunday 25th November, 2018

From The Level to Old Steine then the Marlborough pub

This RISE-led march is inspired by 'Rough Music' protests of the past where villagers sought out abusers and banged pots and pans around their home to publicly shame them into behaviour change.

In an updated version, we'll be protesting domestic abuse and cuts to domestic abuse services - as well as everything creates an environment for gendered violence - like sexism, rape culture and toxic masculinity. Come and join the march and demonstrate.

Details:

  • Meet at 1pm at the Level for a rally with speakers
  • March from 1:15pm
  • Finish at 2:30pm at the Marlborough pub in Kemptown for a post-march gathering

Why not wear an item of orange to support this year's UN theme of 'orange the world' - for a brighter future free from domestic abuse.

Please note, placards of all shapes and sizes are welcome on the day, however this is a RISE event. Please respect this and don't bring other branded banners with you. Do bring ear plugs if you have sensitive ears.

Keep checking back for updates to the schedule. Can't wait to see you there!
