RISE Heroes Run 2019

Our RISE-branded race of splendid superheroes is coming up on 19 May 2019. Will you enter a walk/run and raise much-needed funds for RISE's domestic abuse services?

RISE Heroes Run 2019

Sunday 19th May, 2019

Hove seafront

Get the 19th of May 2019 in your diary - and dust off that superhero costume - because our HEROES RUN is coming up!

If you'd like to take part in a fantastic day of superhero-themed fun, and raise money for our vital services here in Brighton and Hove, sign yourself & your family up to take part in the HEROES RUN. Guess who was there last year to support us: Fatboy Slim and his son Woody!

This will be a great experience for the whole family. There will be a cake stand run by the Brighton Belles and your dogs and pushchairs are welcome in the race! There's even a fancy dress competition for your pooches - and of course all of the money raised will go towards funding a RISE child therapist in 2019/20.

Places on the day are limited and you will save at least 30% by registering online before the close date! Register your places in the Heroes' Run races >>

Race day information

There are four challenges in the 2019 event:

  • 10AM: 500m Mini HEROES Dash
  • 10:15AM: Youth Mile
  • 10:40AM: Adults (ages 13+) 5k
  • 10:40AM: Adults (ages 16+) 10k

There is no minimum age restrictions, but under 8s need to be accompanied by an adult.

Location:

The start/finish of the HEROES RUN is near Hove Lawns. The charity village will be on Hove Lawns, between First and Second Avenue.

Directions:

Driving: The race post code for your sat nav is BN3 2FR. There are limited parking facilities on the sea front and nearby roads. The nearest car park is in Regency Square - BN1 2FF.

By train: Be sure to check your journey before you travel as the Brighton line is sometimes subject to engineering works at weekends. Brighton Station is 1.5 miles from the race start line, Hove Station 1.1 miles.

Help desk, toilets and baggage:

Our information desk is located close to the start/finish and opens at 9am. Toilets are also available nearby. There will also be a bag drop and storage area, staffed by volunteers. As with all races, we advise that you don't bring valuables.

Drinks stations:

Water will be available at the finish line of all four events, plus just beyond Hove Lagoon which is at the 2.5km/7.5km point.

Child safety:

For safety reasons, all children in the Kids 500m Dash and Youth Mile races must wear the wristband provided in your race packs. If you don't receive your race pack by the week before the race, we will have spares available on the day at the information desk.

Parents/guardians should add their names and the number of the mobile they have with them on the day to the wristbands. Then attach to the wrist of each child you are responsible for. This way if a child gets lost we can phone the number on the wristband and reunite you with them easily.

Dressing up is all part of the fun of the HEROES RUN. We'll be awarding prizes for:

- 1st place 10k male and 10k female (plus you get a really cool medal)
- 1st place 5k male and 5k female
- 1st place 500m Dash
- 1st place Youth Mile
- Best costume
- Best group costume
- Best fundraiser (please note that this will be decided after the event)
