How to Set Up a Virtual Quiz Fundraiser

Follow these easy steps to set up your very own virtual pub quiz!

Missing pub quiz nights with your friends? We have put together a quick guide to help you set up your own virtual pub quiz fundraiser. After the positive feedback of our own pub quiz events hosted on Facebook Live, we figured this a brilliant way to fundraise from home. So here is how you get started!

  • Decide what platform to use. If you are the admin on a Facebook page Facebook Live works well, (all participants need to have ‘liked’ the page to view the live stream) or apps such as Zoom, WhatsApp video chat and House Party work well for a smaller group.
  • The Quiz Master needs to create an answer sheet and send it to all participants. You may also want to think about securing a prize for the winner.
  • Set up a Just Giving page for the event and suggest a donation amount per person for entry (£5 per person is a pretty standard amount. (Please note that Gift Aid cannot be claimed back on donations made in exchange for entry to an event).
  • Participants can either upload the answer sheet as a Google document so all team members can access it, so teams can be made up of people living in different households, or a team scribe can be nominated. Team members can use the House Party app, Zoom or WhatsApp video so they can confer with each other over the answers.
  • After all the questions have been asked, Team Captains email the completed answer sheets to the quiz master as either as an excel doc as an attachment or by taking a photo of the answer sheet.
  • The Quiz Master then marks the answer sheets and announces the winning person/team!
