Finance Trustee

Would you like to join the RISE Board of Trustees?

Do you have a background in Finance or qualified Accountants with an understanding of Charity SORP?

RISE, a Brighton based, £1 million turnover, violence against women and girls charity, is inviting applications for its Board of Trustees.

Are you a feminist with proven leadership experience in any of these sectors: public sector; private sector; youth/student societies or organisations; commercial or charitable organisations? We also welcome interest from those with direct experience of domestic violence and/or abuse. In addition to leadership roles and related experiences, we would particularly like to hear from professionals with a background in Finance or qualified Accountants with an understanding of Charity SORP. You will assist in leading the Board’s duty to ensure proper accounting records are kept, financial resources are controlled and invested in line with governance, legal and regulatory requirements.

Trustees have a duty to ensure that the charity is well run, solvent, legally compliant, and working towards the charitable purpose for which it was established, and Trustee roles are an important and highly rewarding way to support an organisation.

Our Board members come from all walks of life and bring a passion for ending violence and abuse against women, children, and LGBT+ people. We are keen to ensure greater diversity on our Board and are welcoming applications from a wide range of women who would help us better reflect our potential and current service users.

In addition to full Board members, we would be open to the possibility of bringing people into RISE as advisor volunteers in preparation for a future Trustee role or to join a sub-group.

Trustee roles are open to women only*. They are voluntary with paid expenses. You are eligible to apply if you are over the age of 18.

*This post is open to female applicants only as being female is deemed to be a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9, Paragraph 1 of the Equality Act 2010
