A new Government consultation around domestic abuse is probably the most significant opportunity to influence change in a very long time.

The consultation is looking for views on how best to support people affected by domestic abuse, as well how to raise awareness and ensure that all perpetrators are stopped. The ultimate aim of the consultation is to encourage a conversation nationally about how to tackle domestic abuse, from prevention through to the recovery of survivors and rehabilitation for perpetrators.

The government wants to learn from victims and survivors, support organisations and research experts, as well professionals across policing, criminal justice, health, welfare, education and local authorities who deal with these issues every day.

The consultation focusses on the following themes:

  • Promote awareness
  • Protect and support
  • Pursue and deter
  • Improve performance

In some instances you may be asked for feedback on specific proposals, and in others you may be asked for evidence or experiences to further understand the problem.
