Heroes RISE to the challenge!

Posted May, 2019

We've just held our 2019 Heroes Run on Hove Lawns on 19th of May - and what a success it was! Thank you to all your heroes who turned out in force despite the weather.

Over 300 amazing superheroes descended on Hove Lawns, all to participate in our fun runs. Adorned in fabulous hero costumes, with one mission - to run and raise money for our children’s counselling service for 2019/2020.

The RISE Therapy Team helps children affected by domestic abuse to overcome their experiences in a safe environment. And now thanks to everyone who made this year's HEROES RUN possible - we can fund this crucial service for another year!

We would like to send a huge RISE thank you to our heroic runners and the other wonderful supporters of this event. Without you, we wouldn't have been able to pull off such an action-packed day of fun.

Fantastic local companies sponsored our kilometre markers. Thank you so much to Search Seven, Papa Pitta, Creative Blend, Pragmatic Ltd, Fitzhugh Gates, FastNet and Clarity Environmental. Each had a stunning banner with their own branded superhero at their allocated kilometre. You're all heroes to RISE!

The awesome bestselling author Alexandra Heminsley started our Heroes Run races and kindly donated copies of her best-selling book as prizes, the wonderful Steph & Louis from LD Fitness helped our runners warm up before the races, and the Brighton Belles WI supported us by doing a grand job of staffing the water stand. We're so grateful to you all!

Our volunteers who helped with set up, runner registration, staffing the water station, handing out medals, bananas and congratulations also played a big role in turning the event into a great experience for everyone! We can't thank you all enough!

The challenges included a Kid’s 500m Dash, a Youth Mile and 5K and 10K races. Here are the 2019 winners:

Many of the runners and supporters praised our family-friendly and wheelchair-friendly event, which also welcomed dogs in the races. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive.

Digital marketing company Search Seven said they were proud to sponsor our event and that it was great fun for them. Our compere, Deborah Lennard, wrote “What a fun morning I had compering the #HeroesRun for @riseuk! Congratulations for putting on such a fab event and well done to everyone who took part.”
