Therapy waiting lists closure

RISE is the specialist Domestic Abuse Charity in Brighton and Hove and we have been delivering support for survivors of domestic violence and abuse for over 25 years.

We have made the difficult decision to close the waiting list for therapy in the adult service for a minimum period of 12 months with immediate effect from 5pm on Friday 11 November 2022.

Unfortunately, we have also made the difficult decision to close the waiting list for 1-1 therapy, including music therapy in the Children and Young Person’s Service with immediate effect from 5pm on Friday 6th November 2023. We are still taking referrals for group support for Children and Young People.

The closure of the waiting list for the adult service and Children and Young Persons' 1-1 therapy service is because of the significant increase in demand for therapy without a sustained increase in funding. This has led to extensive waiting times for therapy.

We understand the important role that therapy can play in the recovery journey for survivors so, during the time that the list is closed, we will be streamlining our processes, seeking additional funding and looking at ways to work with more clients.

All our other services remain open as usual and our commitment to you as survivors remains the same.

If you are already on the waiting list, you will remain on the list.

Referrals received until Friday 11 November at 5pm will be accepted, offered assessment and added to the waiting list if appropriate.

We will be contacting all clients on the list to check if they are still eligible and interested in accessing the service.
