A digital volunteer is required in the Fundraising and Communications team at RISE. This is an exciting opportunity to support the Digital Fundraising and Campaigning Officer and learn digital skills on the job.

Reporting to: Sophie Ramsey, Digital Campaigner and Fundraiser

VOLUNTEER ROLE SUMMARY:

This role will assist in increasing our reach and supporter base; raising awareness of RISE services, increasing income through digital fundraising and increasing impact and social change through digital campaigning, making the best use of integrated digital communications.

The digital volunteer will help with the delivery of digital work across RISE channels, assisting with the integration of communications, campaigning and fundraising, events and messaging across current and future digital platforms. You will support the Digital Fundraiser and Campaigner in the work developed to change the organisational culture to a digital one.

The role will also support the Digital Campaigner and Fundraiser and the Communications & Fundraising Manager to raise awareness of RISE on social media.

Campaigning is a fairly new area of work for RISE and this volunteer role will also assist the Digital Campaigner in the execution of digital campaigning.

On occasion, you may also need to undertake adhoc digital tasks from the rest of the team/the wider organisation, when required.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • To support with promotion and awareness raising for the service using a variety of media including researching, developing and scheduling content for Twitter, Facebook and other relevant online applications and platforms.
  • Developing the skill of monitoring of social media platforms for relevant conversations, hashtags/moments and actively joining in the conversation on behalf of RISE.
  • Keeping abreast of relevant current affairs (around domestic abuse, domestic violence and feminist issues to join in the conversation on social media – as well as alerting the team where relevant.
  • To assist in growing and developing RISE’s online presence – including getting to grips with web traffic and social media engagement metrics.
  • Adhoc downloading of reports / populating reporting spreadsheets on social media and website metrics (using Facebook, Twitter and Google Analytics) to help the team analyse and develop a digital strategy and improve online growth.
  • Any other duties as required and relevant to the team’s needs
  • To sit on the Communications Working Group to inform and help develop the strategy.

PERSONAL SKILLS & QUALITIES REQUIRED:

  • An understanding of the use of online social media including Twitter and Facebook
  • Your own computer and wifi access
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn
  • A creative and flexible approach
  • Ability to understand and work with confidential data
  • At all times you will be expected to protect the safety and security of services, service users, staff, volunteers and buildings, and the confidentiality of records and other information.
  • Acknowledge and actively support the rights of people who have experienced domestic and sexual violence and abuse.
  • Understanding of and respect for diversity and equality.
  • Ability to be flexible and work according to the needs of the team
  • Willingness to pitch in and help with non-digital tasks when needed on occasion (i.e. sending out thank you cards to our supporters)

PERSONAL SKILLS & QUALITIES - DESIRED:

  • Experience in posting on social media for an organisation
  • Understanding the issues around domestic and sexual abuse and violence
