Child therapies & counselling

RISE offers special services to help children, young people and families affected by domestic abuse.

We run a six-week group for children aged 6-11. It focuses on ‘Protective Behaviours’ which is all about learning how to keep safe through a variety of fun activities.

Children learn about who we can talk to, what our bodies do to let us know we feel unsafe and what we can do when we have these feelings.

Child therapies & counselling

We offer therapeutic groups for young people who are in abusive relationships or who have experienced parental domestic abuse.

Child & adolescent creative arts psychotherapy

The arts and play can help young people express difficult thoughts and feelings which have previously been unexpressed. We offer individual creative arts psychotherapy sessions to children and young people aged 5-18 years.

Unfortunately, we have made the difficult decision to close the waiting list for 1-1 therapy, including music therapy in the Children and Young Person’s Service with immediate effect from 5pm on Friday 6th November 2023. We are still taking referrals for group support for Children and Young People.

“I like the group - we get to talk about things that happened at home, but only if we want to. I don’t live with my dad so I know what people are talking about when they say contact centre and supervised contact.”
